Our Mission

I am Kaydence Rodrigues. I have been conditioned from a young age by my parents to be an entrepreneur and use innovative ideas and technology to solve socio-economic & ecological concerns humanity and nature faces.

My aim is to create awareness about the use of plastic pens and give people an alternative writing instrument – a pencil made of out of recycled newspaper. It is dual-strategy to deal with environmental degradation. Stop trees from being cut by recycling newspapers and making them into pencils. And stop the usage of plastic pens which run into billions globally and most do not get recycled.

The uniqueness of Velim EcoFriendly pencils is not in the idea of recycling newspapers into EcoFriendly pencils. It is in the purpose behind the idea.

Countries around the world including India have pledged to drastically cut down on their dependency on single-use plastics. One of the greatest contributors to single-use plastic is plastic pens.

Data, my team has studied indicates that every year 2.4 billion plastic pens are brought to the market. Sadly, 91 percent of most plastic pens are not recycled. In order to reduce the use of plastic pens, we decided to introduce eco-friendly pencils. We want to encourage people to ’Say No to Plastic Pens, Say Yes to EcoFriendly Pencils.”
